My dear Maia,
Last night, before bed, I did what I have done on several occasions - mentally write you a letter. There are so many things I want to tell you. Last night I was thinking how much I enjoy you. I often tell you how much I love spending my days with you, how excited I am
to get you from your crib when you wake up, and how your sweet voice melts
me.
Maia, you make me laugh every day. You're very funny. Right
now you have an infectious laugh that makes daddy and I laugh with you even when do not know what is making you laugh so much. Some nights when you're asleep, I start to watch the videos I've taken that day or the days before. I watch them over and over again because I love to see you doing whatever you are doing.
I do not want to forget all the things that make you so yummy and lovely:
** You love to sing and dance. It shows you have Latin blood because when you "dance" you move your little hips ... SOO cute.
**You move much your hands when you are "talking." You emphasize what you say with your eyes.
**You have a very mischievous personality. Your smile melts me.
**You have a high threshold for pain. You get hurt and don't cry very quickly. It's amazing!
**You are a TALKER! From the moment you wake up, you have something to say. :)
**You like to explore everything.
** When daddy comes from work, you get excited to see him. Lately you've started crying when he goes to work.
**When you see your reflection in the mirror you wave good-bye. You get so excited to see yourself. :)
**You use your binky in conventional and unconventional ways.
**You are both cheerful and sweet.
**You have cheeks that captivate everyone who sees you!
** When you see your milk, you get excited. You lower your voice, and whispering with excitement and bright, shining eyes you say, "TETE" (your way of saying "leche" which is milk in Spanish).
** During this season of your little life:
>>You like to play "Where is Maia?"
>>You cover your eyes with your hands.
>>You love to read.
>>You like to sit in the hallway by the kitchen to "talk" with me while I cook and clean.
>>I love having you as my little buddy! You love to close bedroom doors, though then you cry when you find you can't get out!
>>You like to eat, and eat almost anything. :) Tomorrow I'll give you cake for the first time and I can not wait to see you eating chocolate!
>>You still only have two little teeth.
>>You still do not call me, "Mom" but "nana."
Not everything is perfect. You have a strong will and are learning to figure out how to get what you want when you want it. You don't always obey. Days are intense, especially now that you're walking and you want to explore everything. Your naps are shorter and days seem longer. Many nights I'm so tired at the end of the day. I don't always know what is wrong with you or how to train you. But this time is precious and I wouldn't trade it for anything, because this season will go away very quickly.
My precious love, you are the Lord's. It was an undeserved kindness to enjoy you a full year. We recognize that you belong to Him and that He can do with you as He wills. We rest in Him. We pray often for you because we know you need Jesus. I ask my Jesus to save you, to bend your will, to reveal His
beauty and glory into your heart so you would yearn to know Him and be
close to Him all the days of your life.
Maia, I do not know how many times I have asked your dad, "how was that it we had this precious little girl?" I do not understand why the Lord would overwhelm our days with good in giving us you as our daughter. But I am SO glad!
I love you, "quinquina!!"
Nana

That was very sweet. :) I wish I could meet Maia. The pictures of her are so cute! I miss you.
